Descripción : There are those who think in the university and research field that only theoretical work is academic. Fortunately, none of the authors that are present in this book share that opinion. That academic reductionism is very comfortable for those who do not want to do field research since this involves getting involved with a type of population that is not theirs. However, the university and all the work done in it would have no value if we do not put it into practice; if we do not bring university work closer to the social reality in all its harshness, university work will gradually lose its meaning and credibility on the part of society, understanding it as groups or communities of people who struggle every day to survive in this form of current social organization that leaves them aside. The book you have in your hands is a compilation of eleven articles on hot topics of our time and the place we inhabit. Its authors are people who have ventured into both the theoretical and the practical; they are academics committed to the reality of "here" and "now." This is the general anchoring of the diversity of articles presented here, whose axis of polarization is reflection, on the one hand, -as the title of this work warns us- about the management that is made of the development and forms of community identities and, on the other hand -in a not so obvious way-, about the politicization of social concepts and procedures -with their consequent prostitution-, about how some social methods have been manipulated until converting them into another product commodified by the neoliberal system and, even, about the role played by the academics and researchers in relation to the real protagonists of all these processes, the social actors: farmers, farmers, ranchers.
