dc.descriptionThe study of craniofacial growth is complex, taking into account the individual variability in speed and direction of growth, as well as the variety of structures and organs that make it up. It should be remembered that although dentists work with physical structures (teeth and face), one of the main reasons for orthodontic treatment are its psychosocial effects. The understanding of the different mechanisms of craniofacial growth, is definitive for the management of malocclusions based on aetiology and thus, be able to determine with some certainty the prognosis of treatment.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEl estudio del crecimiento craneofacial es complejo, teniendo en cuenta la variabilidad individual en cuanto a velocidad y dirección de crecimiento, ademas de la variedad de estructuras y órganos que lo conforman. Conviene recordar que aunque los odontólogos trabajan con estructuras físicas(los dientes y la cara), una de las principales razones del tratamiento ortodóncico son sus efectos psicosociales. El entendimiento de los diferentes mecanismos del crecimiento craneofacial, es definitivo para el manejo de las maloclusiones basados en la etiología y, así, poder determinar, con alguna certeza el pronostico del tratamiento.es_ES
