dc.descriptionThe use of the chin cup in the treatment of class III skeletal is very controversial. Due to its action as it may cause problems in the temporomandibular joint. The chin cup is used in patient's with Class III prognathism to change the direction of growth of the mandible, and stimulate the growth of the jaw. This may improve the patient's facial profile and dental relations. The report of this case is a patient with Class III, age 11 years, treated with chin cup for a period of 2 years. In this period of time the patient had a peak of growth. In fact the patient grew 15 cm in height.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEl uso de la mentonera en el tratamiento de clase III esquelética, es muy controvertido. Debido a su forma de acción, ya que se piensa que causa problemas en la articulación temporomandibular. La mentonera debe usarse en pacientes clase III por prognatismo mandibular para cambiar la dirección de crecimiento de la mandíbula y estimular el crecimiento del maxilar con lo que se puede mejorar el perfil facial del paciente y sus relaciones dentales. El reporte de este caso es un paciente clase III con prognatismo mandibular de 11 años de edad, tratado con mentonera por un periodo de 2 años en el cual el paciente presentó un pico de crecimiento en el que creció 15 cm de estatura.es_ES
