dc.descriptionThis and similar telephone conversations are taking place between Mexican migrants in the United States and their relatives in Mexico. During the bounty years in the U.S., some migrants earned enough to open up savings accounts in Mexican banks, buy land, and build houses. Others started small businesses in their hometowns in partnership with brothers and sisters in Mexico, including: cattle breeding, agriculture, video rentals, Internet cafés, clothing, jewelry, grocery and liquor stores, and money lending. While others made just enough money to survive in the U.S. and to rigorously send remittances to their families back home.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEsta y similares conversaciones telefónicas están teniendo lugar entre los migrantes mexicanos en los Estados Unidos y sus familiares en México. Durante los años de generosidad en los Estados Unidos, algunos migrantes ganaron lo suficiente para abrir cuentas de ahorro en bancos mexicanos, comprar tierras y construir casas. Otros comenzaron pequeñas empresas en sus ciudades natales en asociación con hermanos y hermanas en México, incluyendo: ganadería, agricultura, alquiler de video, cibercafés, ropa, joyería, tiendas de comestibles y licor y préstamos de dinero. Mientras que otros hicieron el dinero suficiente para sobrevivir en los Estados Unidos y enviar rigurosamente remesas a sus familias de vuelta a casa.es_ES
